♻️Our Commitment to Sustainability♻️
At Pownall & Hampson, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a business imperative. We’re actively reimagining the way we operate, guided by the belief that quality products and responsible practices go hand in hand.
We recognise our responsibility to promote and influence good environmental and sustainability practices throughout our supply chain. We achieve this through prioritising ethical material purchasing, being transparent, and taking accountability across every step of our supply chain. Pownall and Hampson are committed to:
- Working with our suppliers, clients, and employees to meet our obligations with regard to environmental legislation.
- Maintaining clearly documented evidence of our progress towards improved environmental performance.
- Setting annual targets and performance indicators to ensure continued and verifiable progress including a reduction in our contribution to landfill, carbon footprint, and single-use plastics.
- Communicating our commitments both internally and externally so that it can be understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels of production.
What We’re Doing Now
- 📦 Packaging: Continuing to use more recycled mateirals for outer and inner packaging.
- 🧵 Materials: Committing to move away from virgin fibres for GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified fibres where possible.
- ⚡ Energy: Committed to use 100% renewable electricity, guaranteed through the purchase of Guarantees of Origin from 2026 onwards.
- 🚯 Waste: Operating with zero waste to landfill.
Looking Ahead
We know sustainability is a journey, not a destination. That’s why we’re continually pushing forwards:
- ☀️ Solar Energy: Exploring on-site solar solutions to reduce emissions even further.
- 🚗 Operational Efficiency: Ongoing investment in improving machinery and processes that are more efficient and environmentally friendly.
- ⚙️ Circular Economy: Continue to research and engage with our customers and suppliers to discover new ways of reducing our carbon footprint.
It takes all of us
Achieving a truly circular, sustainable future is not something we can do alone—it’s a journey that requires collaboration, innovation, and commitment from all of us. At Pownall & Hampson, we believe that every stakeholder, from our team to our partners and customers, has a role to play. As we continue to evolve our business model in line with circular principles and sustainable improvement, we remain fully committed to driving positive change—not just within our company, but across our industry and the communities we serve. This is a shared journey, and we’re in it for the long term.

🌍Our Global Responsiblity🌍
SDG 17 focuses on strengthening global partnerships to support and achieve the ambitious targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This goal emphasises the importance of collaboration between governments, the private sector, and civil society. SDG 17 is crucial for the successful implementation of all other SDGs, as it provides the framework for cooperation and resource mobilisation necessary to achieve sustainable development globally.
Pownall & Hampson algin our sustainability efforts with UN Sustainable Development Goals to ensure our impact contributes to broader global progress. We are focused on three primary goals where we believe we can make the most impact:
- SDG 8: Reflects our belief that business success should uplift people at every level. From our factory in Dublin to our extended global supply chain, we are committed to providing fair, safe, and meaningful employment. Pownall & Hampson prioritise stable working conditions, long-term supplier relationships built on mutual respect, and ethical sourcing practices that ensure dignity and opportunity for all individuals connected to our operations. As we grow, we aim to support local employment, develop skills, and foster inclusive economic development.
- SDG 12: Is at the heart of how we design, source, and manufacture our products. We are building a circular model that reduces waste and maximises resource efficiency. Our commitment to recycled materials, zero waste to landfill, and environmentally conscious production practices is part of a broader effort to rethink the lifecycle of everything we make. Every decision we take, from packaging design to fibre certification, is a step towards reducing our environmental footprint while delivering high-quality products that last.
- SDG 13: We understand the urgency of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and addressing climate change. That’s why we will be transitioning to 100% renewable electricity through Guarantees of Origin. We are actively exploring on-site solar energy, investing in motor efficiency improvements, and planning a shift to electric vehicles where possible. Our approach to climate action is practical, measurable, and built into our long-term goals—because sustainability is not an initiative, it’s a responsibility.

We are certified to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. Our key fibre suppliers adhere to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). GRS refers to recycled content of textiles, and verifies responsible practices in their social, environmental, and chemical production. Pownall & Hampson are proud members of REPAK & Guaranteed Irish.
